Gelok International:
Manufacturer of Superabsorbent Material & Supplies
High-quality, Low-Profile Laminates & Airlaids by Gelok
Since the mid-1980’s, Gelok International has been a premier manufacturer of low-profile, superabsorbent laminates and composites. Following a recent investment in state of the art equipment, Gelok International has extended its product range to include airlaids branded as TotalCore.
Both Gelok superabsorbent laminates and TotalCore airlaids can be used directly as an absorbing substrate or incorporated into a wide variety of finished products used to absorb aqueous fluids such as blood, exudate and urine, while reducing bacterial activity and bad odors associated with these fluids.
Gelok Laminates
Gelok laminates consist of superabsorbent polymer granules (SAP) bonded between sheets of cellulose or non-woven material. Using a variety of superabsorbent polymers, Gelok can absorb many times its own weight of aqueous fluids and ‘lok’ it into a gel to prevent leakage.
- Superabsorbent polymers (SAP)
Customizable SAP configurations available to meet specific needs
- Ultra-Thin profile
Less bulky, lighter products for slender applications
- High absorbency
‘Lok’ in aqueous or exudate fluids to prevent leakage and for easy disposal
- Adhesive-free, cellulose-based laminates
Hydrogen-bonded to secure the laminate together
TotalCore Airlaids
TotalCore airlaids are ultra-soft, pliable, and provide excellent distribution of liquid. Rapid wicking and excellent absorbency provide greater comfort and flexibility in many applications. TotalCore airlaid features an extraordinarily thin profile and can be made with or without SAP.
- Customizable with or without SAP
Available with a variety of substrates, superabsorbent polymers and cellulose fibers to meet specific needs
- Thin, soft and pliable
Lighter, flexible materials with excellent distribution of fluid
- Excellent absorbency
Powerful absorption encapsulates fluid and odors
- Adhesive-free, cellulose-based airlaids
Hydrogen-bonded to adhere the airlaid together
Super Absorbing Performance for a Variety of Applications
Low-Profile, Gelok Laminates and TotalCore Airlaids
Applications for low-profile Gelok laminates and TotalCore airlaids include food tray pads, personal care, incontinence, medical packaging, medical cleanup, underpads, wound care, urinal pads, filtration, body/cadaver bags and other uses where absorption of water-based fluids is needed. All of Gelok’s cellulose-based superabsorbent laminates and airlaids are adhesive-free as they are hydrogen-bonded. By specific request, non-woven superabsorbent laminates can also be manufactured by incorporating specialized adhesive systems.
Gelok Delivers Super Absorbing Performance
Using a variety of superabsorbent polymers, Gelok laminates and TotalCore airlaids can absorb many times their own weight of aqueous fluids – blood, urine or exudate and lock it into a gel to prevent leakage, bad odors and facilitate easy disposal. Gelok products feature an extraordinarily thin profile and a lightweight composition that result in a lighter and more slender product. They are designed to offer absorbency rates and capacities tailored to meet specific applications. FDA approved grades are available for indirect food contact applications where the Gelok laminate or TotalCore airlaid is the absorbent core.
Custom Manufactured Composites and Laminates
Gelok laminates and TotalCore airlaids provide tremendous product flexibility due to our custom manufacturing processes. Our Gelok laminates consist of superabsorbent polymer granules (SAP) bonded between sheets of cellulose or non-woven material.
Our TotalCore airlaid can be made with or without SAP. The degree of absorbency is determined by the amount of polymer and cellulose pulp used in the core. Additionally, the performance characteristics can be enhanced by the use of alternative substrates with a wide range of basis weights and functionality.
More Manageable Finished Product After Use
Gelok’s low-profile, superabsorbent laminates and airlaids are also stable, with excellent fluid retention under pressure, which means once the product has achieved the desired level of absorbency it is still relatively dry and easy to dispose of. Gelok cores satisfy the demanding absorbency applications that arise every day.

Certified by Intertek
Gelok laminates and TotalCore airlaids consist of superabsorbent polymer granules bonded to cellulose fibers, tissue or non-woven material. The degree of absorbency is determined by the amount and type of polymer used in the product. The substrate performance characteristics can be enhanced using alternative materials with a wide range of basis weights.
‘Lok’ Fluid In with Three Steps
1. Dry Sample
A 2” x 2” square of laminate is used.
2. Liquid
250 mL of liquid is poured on to the laminate.
3. Wicking
In three minutes, all liquid is absorbed.
